Hydrate the Homeless began when two neighbors decided they wanted to help others, but weren't sure where to begin. They made up some sandwiches, gathered a few donated blankets, and drove around Pinellas, looking for the places homeless can be found. They learned quite a bit from the people they met.
One of the surprising things they learned was finding something to drink was a problem for the homeless. So they bought three coolers, some lemonade mix, and asked friends and family to donate cups and water bottles. And that is how Hydrate the Homeless got it's start.
Now Hydrate the Homeless has over 15 volunteers serving 250+ Pinellas County Residents every week in Downtown Clearwater and St Pete. We also supply clothing, shoes, toiletries, sandwiches, snacks, totes, and of course lots of smiles.
We look forward to continuing the services we offer in downtown Clearwater/St Pete and adding additional cities around the county as we expand.
